THE STORMS OF LIFE

Once I heard this story: A strong storm flooded the house and the mill of a poor man, taking with it everything he had in the world. Heartbroken and discouraged, he stood in front of the stage of his great loss. The waters still piled up in puddles of mud all over his property. Apparently, he had lost everything. However, after the waters came down, he saw something that shone from the riverbank and that the flood had left uncovered. That something was gold! Ironically, the storm that had caused him so many losses had also made him rich.

The "storms" of life drag us: unemployment, divorce, the loss of a loved one or even the loss of reputation. The Bible is full of "flood stories." Take for example the brothers of Bethany. The sudden death of Lazarus had his two sisters, Maria and Marta desperate. They sent word to their best friend, "YESHUA", to come as quickly as “HE” could. They knew very well “HIS” power to heal.

The book of the Apostle John 11: 6 says that after "YESHUA" received the message “HE” was delayed two days before responding to the request of the sisters. Then Lazarus died! "YESHUA" finally arrived four days later. But that did not stop “HIM” from giving Lazarus his life again. That demonstration of “HIS” resurrection power when “HE” called Lazarus from the grave, still encourages “HIS” followers today.

At the beginning of this history, "YESHUA" had said something that gives us two signs of why Our "SWEETHEARTS" allow so many storms in Our Lives. First, when "YESHUA" received the message that “HIS” friend Lazarus was sick, he said: "This disease is not for death, but so that the name of Our" SWEETHEARTS "may be glorified, so that "I" may be glorified" ( John 11: 4). And after arriving in Bethany, when Lazarus was still in the tomb, "YESHUA" added: "I am happy for you not to have been there, at the time of Lazarus's death, to see this miracle that I will do and then your faith in me increase "(John 11:15).

Besides that Our "SWEETHEARTS" were being glorified by "YESHUA" through the resurrection of Lazarus, that personal storm gave Marta and Mary the opportunity to declare if they would really continue trusting "YESHUA" and Our "SWEETHEARTS", regardless the fact they still could not see the gold.

May Our storms always result for the glory of Our "SWEETHEARTS" and to demonstrate Our fidelity until we can see the gold.

Las tormentas de la vida

Una vez escuche esta historia: Una fuerte tormenta inundo la casa y el molino de un hombre pobre, llevándose  a su paso todo lo que poseía en el mundo. Con el corazón roto y desanimado, se puso en pie frente al escenario de su gran pérdida. Las aguas todavía se amontonaban en charcos de lodo por toda su propiedad. Aparentemente, lo había perdido todo. Sin embargo, después de que las aguas bajaron, vio algo que brillaba desde la orilla del río y que la inundación había dejado al descubierto. ¡Ese algo era oro! Irónicamente, la tormenta que le había causado tantas perdidas, también lo había hecho rico.

Las “tormentas” de la vida nos arrastran: el desempleo, el divorcio, la pérdida de un ser querido o incluso de la reputación. La Biblia está llena de “historias de inundaciones”  Tomemos por ejemplo los hermanos de Betania. La repentina muerte de Lázaro tenía a sus dos hermanas, María y Marta desesperadas. Mandaron a decir a su mejor amigo, “YESHUA”, que acudiera lo más rápido que pudiera. Conocían muy bien su poder para sanar.

El libro del Apóstol Juan 11:6 dice que después de que “YESHUA”(JESÚS) recibió el mensaje se demoró dos días antes de responder a la petición de las hermanas. ¡Entonces Lázaro murió! “YESHUA”(JESÚS) al final llegó cuatro días tarde. Pero eso no impidió que le diera la vida a Lázaro otra vez. Esa demostración de su poder de resurrección cuando llamo a Lázaro de la tumba, todavía alienta a sus seguidores hoy.

Al comienzo de esta historia, “YESHUA”(JESÚS) había dicho algo que nos da dos señales de por que Nuestros “AMORES” permiten tantas tormentas en Nuestras Vidas. En primer lugar cuando “YESHUA” recibió el mensaje de que su amigo Lázaro estaba enfermo, dijo: “Esta enfermedad no es para muerte, sino para que sea glorificado el nombre de Nuestros “AMORES”, para que “YESHUA” fuera glorificado” (Juan 11:4). Y después  de llegar a Betania , cuando Lázaro seguía en la tumba, “YESHUA” añadió: “Me alegro por ustedes de no haber estado allí, al momento de la muerte de Lázaro, para que vean este milagro que haré y entonces su fe en mi aumente” (Juan 11:15).

Además de que Nuestros “AMORES” estaban siendo glorificados por “YESHUA”(JESÚS) mediante la resurrección de Lázaro, esa tormenta personal dio a Marta y a Maria la oportunidad de declarar si realmente seguirían confiando en “YESHUA” en Nuestros “AMORES”, sin importar que aún no pudieran ver el oro.

Que Nuestras tormentas resulten siempre para la gloria de Nuestros “AMORES” y para demostrar Nuestra fidelidad hasta que podamos ver el oro.
